Girls beat Thunder Mountain; Kayhi boys need 2OT

Both Kayhi basketball teams advanced over Thunder Mountain last night in the Region V basketball tournament, but it wasn’t easy for the boys. The Kings squandered a 12-point second-half lead, and needed a comeback of their own. In the closing minutes, Jacob Callaway and Shane Mielke fouled out giving Kayhi free throws to catch up and force the first overtime. The teams were knotted at 52 at the end of the first overtime. Kayhi got some separation in the second OT and held on after an unlikely miss from one of the Falcons sharp shooters for a 60-57 win. Junior Mo Bullock led the Kings with 19 points.
Junior Eliah Anderson paced the Lady Kings with 23 points as Kayhi beat Thunder Mountain 64-49.
