The Kayhi boys soccer team tightened its undefeated conference record (2-0-2) knot with two thrilling ties at Thunder Mountain over the weekend.
The Kings created many opportunities but were unable to convert on around a half dozen shots on goal. Overall, both teams displayed a great defensive effort to produce a 0-0 game.
On Saturday both teams exhibited plenty offense. Thunder mountain scored two goals from deep and Kayhi’s Junior Rudy Pankow put in two goals for the Kings to end the game with a 2-2 score. Pankow’s first goal was an impressive scissor kick to the back of the net from Senior Nathaniel Jones’ throw in. Then trailing 2-1 in the second half, Rudy scored off of a through ball sent by the Kings defense to even the scores.
The Kings JV squad performed well against the Falcons winning Friday 3-2 and Saturday 3-1. Freshmen Isacc Jensen and Payton Steward led the team with two goals over the weekend.
The boys will be at Juneau Douglas next weekend.
