Opening weekend for basketball

The girls and boys basketball teams will be playing on Friday and Saturday night. The girls team will be playing Colony at 5:30, and the boys team will be playing Chugiak at 7:15 both nights. Last year the Lady Kings played Colony  Feb. 2015, when they lost by only 6 points. They played them again at  State and lost 53-48 in overtime. Senior Eliah Anderson says that they have a good chance at beating them this weekend.
“I think that it’ll be a good game, and we’re definitely looking to come out on top. Last year we had three really close games that we lost, so we have a history with this team”
Another factor, according to Anderson, is the seniors that graduated from Colony last year.
“I believe they lost about four seniors, one really good one named Faith Ferris who basically took control of all the games we played against them last year.”
The boys have never played Chugiak before, and according to Jake Smith, they have a pretty young team.
“We never played Chugiak last year because they weren’t too good, and they didn’t go to state. They had a relatively young team, but they’ve improved a lot this year.”
