Senior boys play last home game
The Kayhi Kings (17-3, 5-1) swept the Thunder Mountain Falcons for the second time this season, over the weekend. Senior Jason James scored 17 points in Kayhi’s 62-54 win Friday, seniors Matthew Standley and Isaac Johnson both with 12.
Saturday’s game was preceded by Senior Night for boys basketball, Pep Band, and cheerleading. The highlight of the game was James with a dunk off a backboard pass from Standley. The seniors subbed out with 4:11 left in the fourth quarter, and let the underclassmen finish off the Falcons 70-45. James led again, this time with 24, followed by senior Nathan Bonck with 18.
Seniors on boys varsity basketball team include James, Bonck, Standley, Mo Bullock, and Johnson. Pep band seniors are Lora Starr, Amber Junker, Kaileigh Krosse, Hannah Crowder, Megan Daugherty, and Maria Wojick. Senior cheerleaders include Shaelynn Painter, Mary Angeline Kaminski, Kayla Schaffer, and Emma Jones. Dance Team and Girls Basketball will have their senior nights next weekend when the Lady Kings play Thunder Mountain.
Girls improve to 6-0 in conference play
The Lady Kings (18-2, 6-0) swept the Falcons in Juneau this weekend, 55-33 on Saturday, and 53-37 on Friday.
Kayhi started 2 of 18 from the field in the 1st quarter, and trailed 21-18 at the half Friday. The Lady Kings caught fire and reeled off a 23-3 run to take control of the game. Senior Eliah Anderson led all scorers with 20, and senior Charley Edwardson chipped in 10.
Saturday’s game was led by junior AJ Dela Cruz who had 16 total points, 14 of which were in the 2nd quarter (four 3-pointers). Kayhi led 31-18 at halftime and by as many as 25 in the second half.
