Kayhi Debate Performs Well in First Meet

Five members of the Kayhi Debate Team placed first at Mt. Edgecumbe last weekend in the Kings’ first debate meet of the season. Junior Piper Cooper placed first in three events.
“I felt really great about this first meet.” said Cooper. “My partner and I worked really well together and it turned out to be the best meet I’ve had. I’m happy with how well the first meet went, not only personally, but overall with the team, in such a short amount of time to prepare.”
Kayhi debate has a month before their next meet in November.

Meet Results
Juniors Piper Cooper and Cooper Grace 1st in public forum.
Senior Shania Olsen 1st for oration.
Junior Thomas Brooks and Cooper 1st with the command performance for duo interpretation.
Junior Madyson Traudt and Cooper 2nd for spar debate.
Freshman Demitri Williams Martin 3rd in expository.
Sophomores Seth Churnick and Karri Montero 4th for duet acting followed by Traudt and Junior Frances Barry in 5th place.
Olsen 2nd, Cooper 3rd and Barry 4th in extemporaneous speaking.
Grace 5th in extemporaneous commentary.
Cooper 4th in speaker points and sophomore Orion Denny 10th.
