Kayhi boys basketball played at the Doc Larson Roundball Tournament last week, and lost three out of four games. The Kings lost to the Bartlett Golden Bears 70-68, the Wasilla Warriors 78-66, and to the Palmer Moose 50-49. Kayhi’s only win was against the South Anchorage Wolverines with the score of 52-48.
Even with the three losses, the team still impressed their coach.
“I thought it was a great trip for us,” said coach Eric Stockhausen. “We played the best teams in the state, and we were able to find some weaknesses the team needs to work on.”
The team has been working hard with barely any breaks since the Clarke Cochrane Christmas Classic.
“ I think the scheduling wasn’t great, we played eight games in 10 days, but for our team to go out and compete with the best teams in the state is incredible,” said coach Stockhausen. “We haven’t had a real practice since December 23rd, so we are ready to get back and work on what we need to.”
The Kings next game will be against the West Valley Wolfpack in the South Anchorage O’Brady tournament on January 19th.
