After a tough 62-60 loss to Petersburg on Thursday night, the Kings (13-6, 3-3) come back and split the series with the Juneau-Douglas Crimson Bears (11-8, 1-5) with a 66-47 win on Friday and a 63-54 loss on Saturday.
At the half on Friday night’s game, the Kings led the Crimson Bears 31-19, and continued strong throughout the rest of the game with Senior Jake Smith leading the Kings to victory with 32 points. This was Smith’s first 30-point game in his high school career. The King’s defense was key that night, with the Bear’s highest scorer being Ulyx Bohulano with only 11 points.
Saturday night, game started not as smooth. The Kings trailed 19-0 until Senior Brent Taylor sank two free-throws with 11 seconds left in the first quarter to get Kayhi’s first points. The defense did not perform as well, allowing Bohulano scoring 23 points.
The Kings will host Petersburg on Wednesday, then will play Thunder Mountain on Friday and Saturday for the last games of the regular season.
