Kayhi track took 4th overall out of 8 teams in their only home track meet of the season. Kayhi had 9 girls qualify into the finals for 5 different events and 1 relay girls relay team qualified in the girls 4×800. The Kayhi had 21 boys qualify for the finals, and had 1 top finisher, senior Trevor Ortiz in the long jump. Kayhi had an overall team score of 145.333, the third place team, Petersburg, finished with 215. Junior Adrian Ronquillo feels the newer additions held their own over the weekend.
“With the newer additions to our team, I didn’t think we would be as competitive,” said Ronquillo. “But they proved that they could hold their own with the faster kids in the region. Coach talked about key performers yesterday, but I feel all of us did well.”
Kayhi track will head to the Sitka Invite April 29-30.
