The Kings (5-1, 2-0) won three out of four games this weekend. They beat Seward 5-0, Homer 3-0, and Soldotna 3-1, while only losing 1-0 against Kenai.
Although the trip was a success on the scoreboard, the Kings had a tough weekend on the health side of the team, possibly losing two of their strongest defenders.
Junior Vince Tenebro and junior Grant Collins both suffered knee injuries during the Soldotna game.
“With the loss of two major defensive players, we are going to have to change our game plan a little bit,” said junior Henning Pankow. “We are going to have to push some of our centers to the backfield to fill the void left by Vince and Grant.”
After scoring three more goals this weekend, junior Payton Stewart is leading the team with eight goals.
Kayhi will be hosting their longtime rivals, the Juneau Douglas Crimson Bears, this weekend at the Esther Shea Field.
