Kayhi Kings (0-6) fell to Juneau-Douglas (3-2) 35-14 on their home turf last Friday. Trailing 14-0, senior Kody Malouf scored a touchdown with a 32 yard pass from quarterback Brendan Wong to make it 14-7 going into halftime.
“We were definitely fired up at the half, we really thought we were going to win,” said Malouf. “I feel like we played a good game, just a few mistakes in the second half cost us big.”
Juneau struck first in the third quarter, but Kayhi answered when Wong scrambled for another touchdown.
However, the Kings couldn’t keep up with Juneau’s pace as the Bears pulled away.
“Those little mistakes are easy to fix,” said Malouf. “So we just need to keep running plays in practice and try to clean up our play for Thunder Mountain next weekend.”
The Kings will travel to Juneau to play Thunder Mountain next Friday, Sept. 22 at 6 p.m.
