The Kayhi varsity wrestlers, and select JV wrestlers, will travel to the Lancer Smith Memorial Tournament in Wasilla this weekend. The team’s varsity lineup will duel Wasilla on Thursday, and there will be a bracket tournament on Friday and Saturday. Eighteen Kayhi wrestlers will be participating in the tournament.
Coach Rick Collins said he is eager to face some of the best teams in the state.
“We are still not at full strength because of different issues,” said Collins. “But, as always, we will do our best in the duels and the tournament.”
Kayhi junior, Brandon Weiber said he is excited for this tournament.
“I’m ready for the biggest tournament of the year and I feel like it’s a really good opportunity for the team,” said Weiber. “Especially being able to go and experience it, it’s going to be very exciting and memorable.”
