The Kayhi Lady Kings settled for third in the Palmer Elks Showdown this past weekend. They defeated North Pole 47-28 Thursday night. The Lady Kings then went on to lose a heartbreaker to the undefeated Anchorage Christian Lions 54-53 on Friday. Ketchikan lost again on Saturday to Palmer 61-51.
Junior Payton Simmons believes that the team got a lot out of the tournament and can learn from their mistakes and build off of their success from it going forward.
“It was a good learning experience,” said Simmons. “We worked hard but there is always room for improvement. We seem to mirror the other teams intensity and we need to work on finding our own energy and playing to our best potential.”
