The Kings (12-10, 4-4) will take on Juneau Douglas (10-13, 3-5) first round of the Region V Tournament tonight at 8:15 p.m.
Kayhi’s biggest challenge will be containing senior Erik Kelly.
“Our goal is to stop him and not let other players like Kolby Hoover heat up,” said junior Marcus Lee. “We try to force their guards to make decisions and not let them feed the post.”
Kelly has averaged 20.5 points and 19 rebounds in four games against the Kings this season including a 32-point, 18 rebound effort in a loss to Kayhi Feb. 22.
After losing to the Bears last year in the region championship, Lee said earning the title at home would be special.
“We really want to get the win this year for our community and our school.”
