The Kayhi Lady Kings finished the weekend a pair of conference losses (12-4,14-2) and non-conference win (14-2) against the Sitka Wolves.
Friday’s 12-4 loss was doomed by errors and failure to bring runners home. Kayhi racked up 11 errors throughout the game and scored there only runs in the last inning. Junior Maya Parker was disappointed in the teams loss on Friday,
“It’s tough losing like that, Sitka put the ball in play a ton and we didn’t make the plays we should have,” Parker said. “Sitka’s a good team, but really we just beat ourselves that game.”
Saturdays conference game went a lot like how Friday’s game did. Kayloni Bermudez started the game on the mound and was relieved by Kiara Hodges in the middle of the 4th inning. Sitka took advantage of a few Kayhi errors and made the score 12-1 by the end of the 4th and the mercy rule ended the game.
Senior Molly Murdock said that Sitka’s pitching made it hard for any real run production to occur.
“They pitched us really well and had solid pitchers with good command,” Murdock said. “They quited our bats down tremendously compared to the night before.”
