The Kings (11-1) qualify for state with a sweep of Juneau-Douglas over the weekend. Kayhi defeated the Bears 3-2 Friday. All 3 runs came on junior Liam Kiffer’s base-clearing double in the bottom of the fifth inning.
“We knew that we needed to win to make it to state,” said Kiffer. “As a team we stepped up when we needed too. We made a few mistakes but we played hard and didn’t let it stop us.”
Kayhi stopped a late rally and held on for the win.
