The Kayhi boys basketball team defeated Petersburg 74-35 last night. Kayhi junior Edward Davis scored the first basket against the Vikings.
Senior Gavin Salazar said as a team the Kings didn’t play to their full potential.
“Although it was a super special night that none of us will forget, over all we played pretty sloppy on both sides of the ball and we’re going to have to come out with a lot more energy tonight against Wasilla.”
The Kings will take on Wasilla tonight and Saturday at 7:15 p.m.
Wyatt Barajas- “It was a really good moment for our community to all come to together for Edward, the kid who brings so much joy and happiness into our whole entire school. Everyone was there to support him which was super cool, but what was even cooler was that he made it on the first try and everyone went crazy for that special moment.”
Olivia Kinunen- “Everyone was super supportive and you could really tell that he had a really good time.”
Gavin Salazar- “It was a really cool experience just knowing him and being so close with him during high school and it was a really cool experience that I will never forget.
Jacie Johansen- “I thought it was really cool how supportive our community was for that special moment.”
Chris Smith- “I thought it was amazing that he had that opportunity, especially because he is the girls and boys basketball teams biggest supporter.”
Jake Taylor- “We could really feel the spirit and love for Edward. in the gym, it was amazing.”
Kyle Smith- “I thought it was cool to see our community come together and support probably the most positive kid. It was a great way to start off our season.”
Maya Parker- “It was such an amazing night to be able to stand on the side line and cheer my heart out with the whole gym for Edward.”
