The Kings boys varsity basketball team travels to South Anchorage High school to participate in the O’Brady’s Invitational this week. Kayhi’s record is 7-2 heading into the tournament. Kayhi will play East Anchorage (6-0) in an exhibition matchup on Wednesday before the tournament. East Anchorage is currently ranked first in the state for 4A schools.
“We’re really looking to bounce back from the loss to Juneau last weekend,” said senior Jake Taylor. “A win against East will improve our seeding and most definitely our confidence.”
Kayhi plays Service Thursday in their 1st game of the tournament. Service is 7-2 this season and averages 56.1 points per game. Winner of that game advances to play East in the semi finals on Friday. The Kings are looking to win their second tournament.
“It would be a good way to continue our tournament winning streak,” said senior Cody Kemble. “We’ve made a goal to go five for five in tournaments this year and we’re trying to make this our second tournament win after winning the Clark.”
The Kings average 55.7 points per game and a field goal percentage of 45%. East Anchorage averages 64.7 points per game. On defense Kayhi averages 21 rebounds, 8.4 steals, and 1.8 blocks per game.
