Boys Track:
Boys track took first place at the Al Mckee Invitational, beating Stevenson by just 8 points (135-127). This was the second of two meets. Last year they placed second (130), just behind Stevenson (234.5).  They also placed 3rd place at the Mossyrock meet. Senior Brendan Wong got 3rd place his first year, 2nd place last year (losing by 2 inches), and finally 1st place this year in the shot put at the Al Mckee.
“It feels really good getting first,” said Wong. “ It took me 3 years to win, so it feels great bringing home the gold.”

Girls Track:
The girls track team got 3rd place at the Al Mckee invitational, and 6th place at the Mossyrock meet. Sophomore Rachel Knight, who placed 1st place in the 400 meter dash at the Mossyrock meet, said that she felt good about this year and how the season has started, and continues to focus on improving on her records. “Winning the race definitely builds a lot of confidence, but I try not to think of it as beating other people,” said Knight. “I am racing myself and the clock, trying to getting a new PR.”
“Overall , our girls did great,” said Knight. “We got a lot of PRs and ribbons on this trip, and I am very proud of how they did in the meets.”
Junior Ashley Cyr said that she was also proud of how the girls did, and plans to do better herself in the upcoming home meet. “I think that all of the girls the last two meets did amazing,” said Cyr. “ I think I’ll do better at our home meet because I’ve been able to train more this week.”
Last year in the Al Mckee meet, the girls and boys combined had 5 athletes that placed in the top 3. This year, the Kings improved to 20 athletes who placed in the top three.  The Kings next meet is at home on Friday and Saturday at Esther Shea Field.
