The Lady Kings soccer team (1-7-1) fell 2-1 to Thunder Mountain on Thursday and 8-1 to JD on Friday. Senior Aleks Bolshakoff said she felt the team didn’t play to its full potential against Thunder Mountain, but played better against JD.
“We are the first team to score on JD all season not only for the conference but the whole state, so that’s pretty cool,” she said.
The Bears had won 16 straight games without giving up a goal while scoring 103 (6.5 goals per game) of their own until Sophomore Emily Ramsey scored on Friday night.
The Lady Kings won their first game of the season Saturday against Grace Christian with a score of 3-1. Senior Olivia Kinunen led the team with two goals followed by fellow senior Collette Rhein scoring one goal. Kinunen said she felt the win over Grace will set the tone for the rest of season moving forward.
“It felt really good to be able to get a win, it makes the game way more fun when we have opportunities and shots at the goal,” said Kinunen. “We’ve had a slow start to the season and hopefully beating Grace will give us momentum when we head to Anchorage.”
