The chaos of mid-May is upon us at Kayhi.
From now until May 30th, Kayhi will have traveling sports teams, multiple senior events, and finals.
Seniors should be ready to expect a skip day at any time from now until the last day of school.
“Everyone should have a change of clothes and a towel in their locker or car for skip day,” said Principal Bob Marshall.
Class of 2019’s last day of school will be on Friday, May 24th.
“Seniors will have their paper toss after their last full day of school on Thursday, then on Friday they will come back for a half day to check out,” said Marshall
Graduation will be held on Sunday, May 26th at 4 p.m. The senior graduation will come with some with some changes this year. There will be a stage set in place at the end of the gym.
“At least one third of the people attending graduation could not see who was speaking, with this set up, the stage will be a focal point, and the whole gym can see who is talking and see each student receive their diploma,” said senior advisor Terri Whyte.
With the new stage plan in place, each student will have their diploma handed to them by the head of the school board instead of a teacher of their choice.
Whyte says that there is not an effective enough way to get teachers on and off the stage during the ceremony.
“It would be very chaotic, a large mess and we want the focus to be on the class of 2019 graduation. They’re positive changes that aide and honor graduation day.”
