Kings football (0-2) suffered their second defeat 48-26 last Saturday to the Eielson Ravens (2-0). Kayhi trailed 26-20 at halftime. Things fell apart in the third quarter for the Kings who were outscored 14-0 and lost their quarterback junior Patrick Garcia with an ankle injury. Senior Vincent Trujillo said that Garcia’s injury threw off the momentum of the game.
“After Patrick got injured our team kinda fell apart.” Trujillo said. “We weren’t capitalizing on offense and defense wasn’t playing as locked down as we were earlier in the game.”
The captains such as senior Jackson Kaye are very proud of the team’s performance last weekend and don’t want this weekends game to get in their heads.
“I think we played awesome Saturday,” Kaye said. “I was so proud of the team especially after not even scoring against Eielson last year. I just hope the team knows that this isn’t the end of our playoff chance, these games don’t matter as much as the in conference games we have coming up in the future.”
Amongst all 26 points 3 players scored touchdowns, junior Kylar Charles scored two receiving touchdowns, senior Kristain Pihl had one rushing touchdown, and senior Alex Malouf had one receiving touchdown.
Kayhi travels to Seward for their first conference game of the season.
