The Kayhi wrestling team took first last weekend in Sitka scoring a total of 171.5 points. Twenty more points than the 2nd place Mt. Edgecumbe Braves. Kayhi had a total of 9 placers. Junior Charlie Blair and sophomore Kristain Kelogg were the only 2 to take first place. Junior Andy Collins came in second place losing to Wrangell’s Hunter Wiederspohn for the third time this year.
“Every time I’ve wrestled him I come with in 2 points.” Collins said. “It sucks that I don’t have another opportunity to wrestle him again, but I’m gonna use this loss to fuel me going into regions and the state tournament.”
On the girls side sophomores Ruby McCue and Ada Odden both came in second place. All the girls combined scored a total of 39 of the 171.5 total team points.
Both team will not be competing until the region tournament on December 14.
