The Lady Kings (8-4) suffered two losses this weekend in Juneau against the Lady Bears (12-1). Kayhi dropped their first game 51-46 on Friday night and then lost 66-40 Saturday night. Kendyl Carson scored 56 points over the weekend.
Friday night’s game was a close one, the score was tied at half and the Lady Kings were up at the start of the fourth quarter, but JD still broke away with the wind.
Senior captain Nadire Zhuta said that they looked like two different teams on both nights. For Zhuta giving up the second night loss was tough on her.
“On Friday night we looked like the team we have been aiming to look like, we were together and we played for each other, it was great we took steps forward,” said Zhuta. “On Saturday night we took steps back we didn’t look like us, it was hard losing that second night game by 26 points especially since we were right there with them the night before.”
Lady Kings head coach Kelly Smith said that it was a good weekend getting to see what Juneau can do.
“This weekend was a good showing of what Juneau can do and what we need to prepare for when regions come around,” said Smith.
